Terms of Service & Terms of Use
The terms that govern your use of our website, programs, and services.
Effective date: August 3, 2026
1. Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Service and Terms of Use (together, the “Terms”) govern your use of the website at alfajr.ca (the “Site”) and the services offered through it - including program and course registrations, event signups, donations, our mailing list, and our online calculators. By using the Site, submitting a registration or signup form, or making a donation, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. Who We Are
The Site is operated by Al Fajr Islamic Centre, a non profit organization based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. You can reach us at [email protected] or +1‑587‑315‑1666.
3. Use of the Site
You agree to use the Site lawfully and respectfully. In particular, you will not:
- submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information in any form;
- register another person without their (or their guardian’s) consent;
- attempt to disrupt, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the Site, its forms, or the systems behind them;
- use the Site to send spam or unsolicited messages; or
- scrape or republish Site content for commercial purposes without permission.
4. Program & Course Registrations
When you register yourself or your child for a program, camp, course, or event, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and complete, and that you are the parent or legal guardian of any minor you register.
- Submitting a registration form does not guarantee a spot. Programs may have limited capacity, prerequisites, or eligibility requirements, and we may decline or cancel a registration at our discretion (with any fees paid for a cancelled program refunded).
- Where a program has a fee, payment instructions are provided during or after registration. A spot may not be confirmed until payment is received.
- We will use the contact details you provide to communicate with you about the program (confirmations, schedule changes, cancellations).
- If you need to withdraw or correct a registration, contact us at [email protected].
5. Donations & Payments
Donations made through the Site are processed by third-party payment providers (such as Zeffy and PayPal). We do not receive or store your full payment card details; your payment is subject to the processor’s own terms and privacy policy.
- Donations are generally non-refundable. If you made an error (wrong amount, duplicate payment), contact us promptly and we will do our best to correct it.
- Where you designate a donation (for example, zakah or a specific fund), we make every effort to apply it as designated.
- Tax receipts, where applicable, are issued in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency requirements.
6. Zakah & Will Calculators
The Zakah Calculator and Will Calculator are educational tools that provide estimates based on commonly held scholarly positions. They are not a fatwa, and not religious, legal, tax, or financial advice.
- Schools of thought differ on some rulings, and your circumstances may require a different treatment. Consult a qualified scholar for your specific situation.
- The Will Calculator does not produce a legal will. A will must meet the requirements of your province (in Alberta, the Wills and Succession Act) to be enforceable — consult an estate lawyer.
- Live metal rates and calculation results are provided “as is” and may contain errors or delays; we are not responsible for decisions made in reliance on them.
7. Mailing List & Communications
By joining our mailing list you consent to receive emails from us about programs, events, and community news, in accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. We may still send you transactional messages related to a registration or donation you have made.
8. Personal Information
We collect only the information you provide in our forms (such as names, contact details, and program-related details) and use it to administer registrations, donations, and communications. We share it only with the service providers needed to operate the Site — such as payment processors, our email delivery and mailing list providers, and Cloudflare (spam protection) — and do not sell it. To access, correct, or delete your information, contact [email protected].
9. Intellectual Property
The Site’s content — text, graphics, logos, and images — belongs to Al Fajr Islamic Centre or its licensors. You may share links to the Site and use its content for personal, non-commercial purposes; any other use requires our written permission.
10. Third-Party Services & Links
The Site links to and embeds third-party services (payment processors, social media, video platforms). We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of those services; your use of them is governed by their own terms.
11. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Al Fajr Islamic Centre and its volunteers, staff, and directors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content, including the calculators. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date above shows when they were last revised, and continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Alberta.
